With a genius for networking and an acute sense for numbers, Ann Black has redefined the role of the tax preparation and business accounting firm. For more than 30 years, she’s advised businesses, political committees, and individuals. Ann gets deeply involved with her clients, whether the job is winning a political campaign, thriving in business, connecting with important allies, or meeting financial goals. Ann has the unique ability to identify issues, assemble the required talent, and provide inspiration to see the job to completion. Ann is a dedicated activist and involved with many profit and nonprofit organizations in the community, including the McKinley Foundation, where she served as a trustee on the Executive Board, as well as Oakland University Foundation, Cleary College, InterFirst Federal Savings Bank, Eastern Michigan University Foundation, Michigan Kidney Foundation, Variety Children's Charity, and dozens more. She holds a BBA in Accounting from Eastern Michigan University.
Rob has over 35 years experience in accounting, income tax preparation, financial planning, teaching, and campaign finance reporting. He is a Certified Financial Planner™, Certified Management Accountant, and enrolled to practice before the IRS, and the founder of the American Society of Certified Political Record Keepers. He previously maintained his own accounting and tax practice with over 1,000 clients, has held senior financial positions in several small- and medium-sized businesses and taught accounting at the University of California, Berkeley. Rob is a visionary planner who thinks outside-the-box; he digs deeply into researching complex issues and explores unconventional paths to problem-solving. He holds a BA in Psychology from the University of Illinois, and an MBA in Accounting and Graduate Certificate in Taxation from Golden Gate University in San Francisco.
Anna has been involved in the world of complex business accounting since 1990. She is a graduate of the prestigious Financial Economic University in Moscow, and worked for Russia's largest company, Gazprom, for over 10 years. Anna is a specialist in financial analysis, budgeting, and Controllership, having served as Controller to one of Gazprom's largest divisions. Anna knows how to turn huge volumes of raw data into real information that’s useful in making real-life decisions.
Lerona had assisted, scolded, coddled, and generally earned the respect of candidates and political committees for over 5 years now. Having managed campaign filings for four Michigan Supreme Court Justices, dozens of state and local committees, and a candidate for US Senate, she is a master at multi-tasking, setting goals, and making deadlines. Lerona runs the campaign finance operations and reporting system that keeps all our candidates and committees on time and in compliance.
Brenda, a Certified Public Accountant, is an independent advisor with Renaissance Financial Group. She earned her Bachelors Degree in Accounting from Madonna University in 1991. Brenda began her career at Arthur Andersen, LLP and specialized in tax accounting and tax preparation for businesses and individuals. After five years at Arthur Andersen, she left to join the Manufacturing Tax Practice at Plante & Moran, LLP. Her focus was to utilize the practical experience and planning skills earned at Andersen and apply them specifically business accounting to middle market manufacturers. In addition, Brenda organized a State Tax Group at a firm wide level. She has prepared and led substantial staff training on a variety of technical issues.
Brenda is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Michigan Association of Certified Public Accountants. In years past, Brenda has served on the Legislative and Administrative Review Subcommittee for the MACPA and as a Board Member for the Ann Arbor Convention and Visitors Bureau.
Currently, Brenda consults on both an issue and project based platform for a wide array of middle market clientele. This consulting includes financial statement forecasting, cash flow planning, budget and tax preparation and general financial statement reconciliation in addition to tax related concerns and planning.
